Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurses (L&D RNs) for a long-term assignment at the Akron Campus. The RN will provide high-quality nursing care to laboring patients and newborns and must be comfortable floating between Labor & Delivery and Perinatal units.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum/perinatal period.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Assist with labor and delivery procedures and provide appropriate patient education and support.
  • Perform neonatal assessments and workups as required.
  • Administer neonatal IV antibiotics and medications as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in Epic.
  • Perform phlebotomy as required.
  • Float between L&D and Perinatal based on staffing and patient-care needs.
  • Follow facility policies, clinical protocols, and patient-safety standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Required Qualifications

  • Active and appropriate RN license.
  • Minimum 2+ years of Labor & Delivery experience.
  • Recent Epic experience within the last 12 months.
  • Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 12 months.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited program through ACEN or CCNE.
  • Must be willing to float between L&D and Perinatal.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient-care skills.

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • NRP
  • EFM
  • STABLE

Unit Information

  • L&D: 17 beds
  • Perinatal: 10 beds
  • L&D ratios: approximately 1:1–1:2
  • Perinatal ratios: approximately 1:3, potentially up to 1:4 depending on acuity.
  • L&D RNs are expected to perform neonatal sepsis workups and administer neonatal IV antibiotics and medications.
