Position Overview:
The Akron Campus is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN to provide care in a 17-bed Labor & Delivery unit with tubs and a 10-bed Perinatal unit. Travelers will float between L&D and Perinatal based on department needs.
Unit & Patient Ratios:
- L&D: 17 beds, including tubs
- Perinatal: 10 beds
- L&D ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
- Perinatal ratio: 1:3 on average, up to 1:4 depending on acuity
- Must be willing to float between L&D and Perinatal
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, postpartum, and perinatal patients.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
- Perform fetal monitoring and utilize EFM skills.
- Provide neonatal care and complete neonatal workups for suspected sepsis.
- Administer neonatal IV antibiotics and other neonatal medications as required.
- Assist with labor, delivery, and related procedures.
- Provide patient and family education and support throughout the childbirth process.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Float between L&D and Perinatal according to department needs.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and facility protocols.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 2+ years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required.
- Recent Epic experience within the last 12 months required and must be clearly listed on the resume.
- Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 12 months required and must be clearly listed on the resume.
- Must have experience providing neonatal care, including neonatal medications, IV antibiotics, and sepsis workups.
- Must be willing to float between L&D and Perinatal.
- Nursing degree must be from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program.
Required Certifications:
All of the following are required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NRP
- EFM
- STABLE
RTO & Scheduling Requirements:
- RTO must be submitted at the time of candidate submission.
- Maximum 4 days of RTO allowed.
- Candidates requesting more than 4 days of RTO will be automatically rejected.
- No RTO during the first 2 weeks of the assignment.
- Block scheduling requests are not accepted.
