Simplified CT Technologist Job Requirements

Position: CT Technologist
Shift: 12-hour shifts — varied day shifts (7a–7p, 8a–8p, 9a–9p) or nights (7p–7a)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks
Weekend: Every other weekend (EOW)
Call: None
Radius: 50-mile rule

Must Have

• BLS
• WV X-Ray License
• WV CARES required before start
• CT experience: Prefer ARRT (CT) OR 3–5 years of CT experience
• IV experience — must be comfortable starting IVs
• Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Driver’s license: Unexpired copy must be submitted with the candidate
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at submission

CT Department

• 2 CT rooms
• Approximately 65 scans/day
• Equipment: GE VCT 64-slice and Siemens Somatom Definition 64-slice
• EMR: Community Works / Cerner
• PACS: Intellirad/Intelliconnect
• Studies include:
  • Head
  • Chest
  • Abdomen
  • Pelvis
  • Extremities
  • Biopsies
• Biopsy experience is preferred but they are willing to train
• Sterile tray setup may be required
• No floating to other departments
• Traveler may be the only CT tech overnight

Schedule

Staff generally works a 2-2-3 rotation across teams. Possible shifts include:

• Day: 6:00a–2:30p
• Day: 6:30a–3:00p
• Day: 8:00a–4:30p
• Day: 9:30a–5:00p
• Afternoon: 2:30p–11:00p
• Midnight: 12:00a–8:00a
• Some 12-hour schedules are 7a–7p, 8a–8p, 9a–9p, or 7p–7a

Other Details

• First-time travelers accepted
• Orientation: 5 shifts with a preceptor
• Holiday: May be required to participate in holiday rotation
• Scrubs: Any clean, professional color; Emerald Green is optional
• Cancellation: Up to 2 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Radiologist: In-house during the day; on-call after hours, with Vrad covering 2a–6a
• No RRA required
• No call/standby requirement
