JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Operates mammography equipment to produce radiographic images of the breast for screening exams under the general supervision of a radiologist.
Job Responsibilities:
-Performs timely screening mammography, with less than 5% repeat rate.
-Enters accurate patient history and charges off exam.
-Explains exam in a manner patient can understand, gains patient cooperation and reduces patient anxiety.
-Complies with all departmental and hospital policies.
-Performs other duties as required by lead technologist or manager.
-Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited, and standard policies/protocols have been established.
-Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers.
-Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
-Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
-Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Required Skills & Experience:
-Zero (0) - six (6) months of related experience.
-Competent to perform screening mammograms on men and women of mammography age 18 - 100 years.
-Demonstrated skills and knowledge of mammography unit and basic positioning skills.
-Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
-Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
-Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Required Education:
-Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
-Must have completed or will complete within nine months from hire date, 40 hours documented training specific to mammography and 8 hours modality specific digital training in accordance with Mammograph Quality Standards Act.

Required Certification & Licensure:
-Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be ARRT Certified in Mammography within nine months from date of hire.
Must Have
- 40 hours documented training specific to mammography and 8 hours modality specific digital training in accordance with Mammograph Quality Standards Act
- ARRT Certified in Mammography
- Machine and Facility Quality Control
- Minimum of 1 Year of Experience
- Screening mammograms
