Position: CT Technologist
Openings: 2 Positions

Equipment: GE VCT and GE Evo/Evolution

Position Overview

Melrose Wakefield Hospital is seeking experienced CT Technologists to join the imaging team. Two positions are available with different weekly hour and scheduling requirements.

Candidates should have strong CT experience, be licensed in Massachusetts, hold ARRT(CT) certification, and have experience operating CT imaging equipment in a hospital environment.

Available Positions

Position 1 – CT Technologist

• 40 hours per week
• Various day/evening shifts
• Position is primarily to provide vacation coverage
• Target start: First week of June
• Rotating weekends required

Position 2 – CT Technologist

• 36 hours per week
• Monday – Wednesday
• 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM
• Target start: Week of July 18
• Rotating weekends required

Required Qualifications

• Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License – Required
• ARRT(CT) Certification – Required
• Graduate of an AMA-approved educational program in Radiological Technology
• 3–5 years of CT Technologist experience
• Strong knowledge of CT procedures, equipment, image processing, and hospital imaging workflows

Essential Technical Responsibilities

• Follow hospital protocols for CT examination routines and produce high-quality diagnostic studies efficiently and accurately.
• Operate CT equipment safely and effectively; obtain additional training when required.
• Properly warm up CT scanners and perform required quality assurance (QA) procedures.
• Prepare and operate pressure injectors, PACS workstations, and Meditech systems.
• Perform CT procedures efficiently while providing appropriate communication and feedback to patients.
• Clean and prepare examination rooms following procedures.
• Manipulate and optimize images according to radiologist requirements, including:
  • Windowing
  • Contrast adjustments
  • Imaging algorithms
  • Exam/accession separation
  • Reformatted images
• Select appropriate scanning levels based on the examination field and organ being evaluated.
• Ensure all studies are properly identified with required patient and examination information, including:
  • Patient name
  • Date
  • Accession number
  • Correct order
  • Contrast volume
  • Contrast lot number
• Complete required technical and administrative components of each procedure.
• Escort patients as needed and maintain clean, safe examination areas.
• Monitor equipment performance and promptly report malfunctions to the Coordinator or designated personnel.
• Communicate wet-reading findings to physicians, Emergency Department staff, nursing units, and other appropriate personnel.
• Access RadPortal when necessary.
• Retrieve prior examinations for radiologists and VRC when requested.
• Burn CDs for patients or Emergency Department requests when needed.
• Maintain adequate supplies and request replenishment when necessary.
• Keep control rooms and work areas organized, clean, and functional.
• Perform clerical and other departmental duties as needed to maintain efficient patient flow and quality standards.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3–5 years of CT experience
• Strong technical knowledge of CT imaging
• Experience with GE CT equipment
• ARRT(CT) certification
• Active Massachusetts licensure
• Strong understanding of image processing and reconstruction
• Experience with PACS, PowerScribe, Meditech, VRC, and related radiology systems
• Excellent patient communication and clinical workflow skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a hospital-based imaging environment
