Position: Certified Surgical Technologist – CVOR
Location: Florence, SC
Contract: 13 weeks with possibility of extensions
Shift: 06:00 AM – 02:30 PM
Cases: Approximately 6 cases/day
Call: Weekend call required
Certification: NBSTSA certification required
 

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the CVOR, including sterile instruments, supplies, equipment, sutures, and surgical devices.
• Scrub for open-heart/cardiac and vascular procedures, maintaining strict sterile technique throughout surgery.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, draping, and establishing the sterile field.
• Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts with the circulator.
• Participate in surgical time-out and patient/site verification.
• Pass and handle surgical instruments and specimens appropriately.
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assist with room turnover and terminal cleaning.
• Follow infection-control practices, standard precautions, and PPE requirements.
• Support safe and efficient perioperative care under the direction of the surgical team.
• Maintain professionalism and excellent communication with patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers.

Requirements

• Current NBSTSA certification — REQUIRED
• Strong CVOR experience
• Must be confident scrubbing open-heart/cardiac and vascular cases
• Experience with sterile technique, surgical counts, instrumentation, and CVOR equipment
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume OR environment averaging ~6 cases/day
• Flexible, punctual, and comfortable working in a surgical environment
• Must be available for weekend call
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ideal candidate: An NBSTSA-certified CST with solid CVOR experience who can confidently scrub open-heart and vascular procedures and function independently in a busy CVOR setting.
