Travel Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer / Senior Sonographer

• Location: Boston, MA (On-site)

Position Overview

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking experienced Travel Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographers to support their world-class Department of Radiology on a 13-week or longer assignment. Selected travelers will be placed as either a Level I Travel MFM Sonographer or a Level II Senior Travel MFM Sonographer based on clinical expertise, core competencies, and board certifications to seamlessly integrate into our daily workflow.

Contract Breakdown & Role Expectations

Level I – Travel MFM Sonographer

• Target Experience: 1–3 years of specialized OB/GYN or MFM experience
• Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform high-quality, routine obstetrical ultrasound examinations following departmental protocols with minimal orientation time.
  • Collaborate directly with Radiologists and MFM physicians to review complex imaging requisitions.
  • Deliver compassionate, family-centered care in alignment with pediatric and high-risk pregnancy standards.
  • Maintain departmental Quality Control (QC) and ensure high Exam Data Integrity.

Level II – Senior Travel MFM Sonographer

• Target Experience: 3+ years of dedicated high-risk MFM clinical experience
• Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently perform routine and complex high-risk obstetrical ultrasound procedures.
  • Step in as a clinical resource to maintain daily workflow momentum during peak operational hours.
  • Lead Quality Assurance (QA) standards and ensure optimal image quality across high-complexity cases.
  • Provide expert-level technical knowledge to assist fellows, residents, and permanent staff as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education & Certifications: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with active ARDMS (OB/GYN) certification required. Active Nuchal Translucency (NT) and CLEAR certifications preferred.
• Clinical Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of dedicated MFM or high-risk obstetrics clinical experience required for travel placement.
• Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to hit the ground running with 1–2 weeks of facility orientation.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR/PACS systems) and advanced high-risk ultrasound equipment.
