Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry Registered Nurses (RNs) for a long-term contract opportunity on a 34-bed Cardiac PCU/Telemetry and Stroke Overflow unit.

The ideal candidate will have strong PCU/Telemetry experience and be comfortable caring for higher-acuity cardiac patients, including managing cardiac drips, IV therapy, and telemetry monitoring. This is a fast-paced environment requiring nurses who can quickly adapt and work independently.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU/Telemetry patients.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and changes in patient condition.
• Care for patients requiring progressive-level cardiac monitoring.
• Safely manage and monitor cardiac IV drips according to clinical protocols.
• Start, maintain, and troubleshoot IV access.
• Perform phlebotomy/blood draws as required.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document patient care.
• Monitor stroke and other high-acuity patients as appropriate to the unit.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Prioritize care in a fast-paced environment.
• Float to other units as required and within scope of practice.
• Maintain compliance with patient-safety and infection-control standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Telemetry RN experience.
• Experience caring for higher-acuity cardiac patients.
• Comfortable managing cardiac drips.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required.
• Epic experience within the last 12 months; this must be clearly listed on the resume.
• Phlebotomy experience within the last 12 months; this must be clearly listed on the resume.
• Recent experience starting and maintaining IVs.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program through ACEN or CCNE.
• Strong telemetry, assessment, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability and willingness to float.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• 34-bed Cardiac PCU/Telemetry and Stroke Overflow unit
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: approximately 1:4–5
• Cardiac and progressive-care patient population
• Stroke overflow patients

Assignment Requirements

• Interview required.
• Candidates must provide available interview dates and times at submission.
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application.
• Maximum 7 days of RTO accepted.
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment.
• Block scheduling is not permitted.
• Solid black scrubs required.
• Must be willing to float within scope of practice.

• Nursing competency and skills assessments
• EKG/Telemetry assessment
• Pharmacology assessment
• License and certification verification
• Education verification
• Drug screening and background checks
• Health screening and immunization requirements
• Facility onboarding and compliance documentation
