Acute Care Occupational Therapist – Traveler

We are seeking an experienced Acute Care Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to adult inpatient populations. The OT will evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe and effective patient outcomes.

Position Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
• Location: Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital – Inpatient
• Shift: Monday–Friday, 8-hour days
• Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Weekend: None
• Holiday: Every-other-holiday rotation
• Float: None
• On-Call: Travelers may be placed on call for low-census hours. On-call hours count toward the 36 low-census unbillable hours. If called back to the facility, call-back pay applies with a 2-hour minimum.
• Low Census: Contract is eligible for up to 36 low-census unbillable hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for acute-care inpatients.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient condition, functional status, and goals.
• Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions to improve functional independence and safety.
• Assess patients' ability to perform activities of daily living and recommend appropriate interventions or equipment.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide patient and family education regarding therapy recommendations, safety, and discharge planning.
• Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress, and discharge recommendations accurately in the medical record.
• Utilize EPIC for clinical documentation.
• Demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and professionalism in a fast-paced acute-care environment.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, clinical standards, and patient safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapist program.
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient Occupational Therapy experience.
• Active Wisconsin State Occupational Therapist License.
• BLS certification.
• NPI number required. Candidates without an NPI must begin the application process prior to start.
• Aspirus requires AHA or American Red Cross (ARC) certifications.
• EPIC experience required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary hospital environment.
• Hard-working, resilient, adaptable, and comfortable managing change.

Additional Requirements

• Traveler must reside outside the 50-mile radius requirement.
• Professional scrubs required; any professional scrub style is acceptable.
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccination are required to wear a mask at all times in accordance with Aspirus policy. Compliance is mandatory.
