CT Technologist – Travel Assignment

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly autonomous CT Technologist to join the imaging team. The ideal candidate should be confident working independently, possess strong CT and X-ray skills, and be comfortable functioning with limited on-site resources. This role may require the technologist to be the only CT/X-ray technologist in-house at times.

Department & Work Environment

• Primary Focus: CT Imaging
• CT Scanner: Philips 64-Slice
• CT Volume: Approximately 10–15 cases per day
• Treatment/Imaging Areas: Emergency Department and hospital-based imaging
• EMR: Cerner
• Radiology Coverage: RT available 24/7
• Pharmacy: 24/7 availability; main pharmacy hours approximately 6:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Supervisor/Charge: Supervisor/Charge coverage Monday–Friday
• Nursing Support: Nurse Aides available Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM–11:30 PM

CT Procedures & Patient Population

The technologist will perform a variety of CT examinations, including:

• Basic CT studies
• Angiography/CTA studies
• Emergency CT imaging
• General diagnostic CT examinations
• Rare biopsy procedures

Not performed:

• CT Perfusion
• Cardiac CT studies

Key Responsibilities

• Perform CT examinations safely and accurately according to departmental protocols.
• Operate the Philips 64-slice CT scanner and ensure quality diagnostic images.
• Provide appropriate patient positioning, preparation, and education.
• Follow radiation safety and patient-care standards.
• Perform contrast-enhanced studies as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner.
• Provide X-ray coverage when needed, including situations where the X-ray technologist is working in the OR.
• Be prepared to function independently when staffing resources are limited.
• Maintain strong clinical judgment and prioritize imaging needs appropriately.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of CT Technologist experience
• BLS certification required
• National Registry certification required
• Strong CT experience, including CTA/angiography
• X-ray experience strongly preferred
• Must be comfortable working independently with limited resources
• Must be willing to perform X-ray duties or refresh/re-learn X-ray skills if needed
• Strong communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills

Schedule & Staffing

• Shifts will be based on the job posting.
• Holiday Requirement: Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
• Technologist may be the only CT/X-ray technologist in-house when another technologist is working in the OR.
• No floating outside of the hospital.
• May be required to cover X-ray responsibilities within the facility.

Orientation

• 1–2 shifts of department-specific orientation
• Orientation will include working with a preceptor to become familiar with department workflows, equipment, protocols, and expectations.

• 50-mile radius rule applies; candidate's driver's license is the source of truth for determining the radius.
• Medical Solutions prescreen applies. If recommended, the candidate will be sent to the manager for approval to offer.
• This position requires a high level of autonomy and confidence.
• The technologist should be comfortable making clinical decisions and managing workflow with limited support.
• Candidate must be flexible and willing to provide both CT and X-ray coverage when necessary.
• Strong CT/X-ray experience is important due to the possibility of limited staffing and resources.
• Local candidates must meet the applicable 50-mile radius requirement.
