Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult ICU patients in a 33-bed Level II Trauma ICU.
• Maintain a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3.
• Care for patients with trauma, cardiac conditions, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent and pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress.
• Titrate and manage cardiac drips, insulin, sedation, and other ordered continuous infusions.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry/ECG strips and document findings; GE monitors are used with tele-tech oversight.
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and nasal cannula.
• Perform ongoing assessment, medication administration, care planning, and documentation using EPIC.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, nurse aides, healthcare support technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in patient safety, infection prevention, and quality-of-care practices.
• Float to PCU and occasionally Med-Surg as needed, maintaining the applicable unit ratio, typically 1:4–1:5.
• Participate in weekend and holiday coverage according to the assignment requirements.
• Complete required orientation and pass the unit's open-book RN exam with a minimum score of 90%.
