Travel RN – Pre-Op | Sutter

Position: Pre-Op RN
Shift: Days – 5×8
Schedule: 06:30 AM – 03:00 PM
Weekend: No weekends
Call: As needed
Float: May be required to float to Endoscopy (Endo) if needed

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN License
• BLS – AHA or ARC
• ACLS – AHA or ARC
• Pre-Op/Admissions experience
• Unless otherwise stated, 2+ years of experience required
• Strong ambulatory/outpatient or procedural nursing experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments
• Review history and physicals and complete medication reconciliation
• Provide pre-op education and obtain procedural/operative consent
• Start and maintain IVs and administer pre-op medications
• Monitor patients and recognize/manage dysrhythmias and other clinical changes
• Perform airway assessment and obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG when required
• Provide care for patients undergoing various procedures, including:
  • General surgery
  • ENT
  • GYN
  • Orthopedic/total joint procedures
  • Urology/TURP
  • Colon surgery
  • Hysterectomy
  • Endoscopic/laparoscopic procedures
  • Podiatry
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain patient safety, confidentiality, and quality standards
• May provide support/training to other staff

Submission & Compliance Requirements

Documents Required:

• Updated Resume
• Valid CA RN License
• Nursys report uploaded within the last 2 weeks
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• Certifications must have valid expiration dates and be AHA or ARC
• 2 professional references obtained within the last year
• 7-year work history
• Former manager name(s), if applicable
• RTO (Requested Time Off), if any
• Supporting documentation for any background/licensure hits, if applicable

Sutter Compliance Rules

• 50-mile radius rule applies; local candidates are accepted at the local rate
• Maximum 7 days RTO per contract
• Only 1 holiday RTO may be requested per contract
• Labs must be completed within 3–5 days of contract signing
• All compliance documents are due 10 days before the start date
• 7-year work history verification is required
• Modules are completed through e-learning during orientation
• No separation time required for returning staff/travelers
