Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the GA Units 2 & 3 team. These units provide comprehensive care to a diverse adult medical-telemetry population, including patients with respiratory conditions, COPD, chest pain, cardiac concerns, and patients undergoing observation or cardiac diagnostic testing.

The ideal candidate should have strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills and be comfortable managing and titrating cardiac medications such as Cardizem and Amiodarone.

Patient Population

The units care for a broad range of medical and telemetry patients, including:

• Respiratory conditions
• COPD
• Chest pain
• Cardiac patients
• Patients awaiting stress testing
• CIWA / alcohol withdrawal
• Other general medical and telemetry diagnoses

Required Certification

• BLS

Clinical Requirements

Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation experience is required.

RNs must be comfortable:

• Performing comprehensive patient assessments.
• Monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
• Recognizing changes in telemetry and patient condition.
• Managing cardiac medications.
• Collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Providing safe care to patients with varying levels of acuity.

IV Drip Management

RNs are required to titrate cardiac drips, including:

• Cardizem
• Amiodarone

Experience with titratable cardiac medications is essential.

Charge Nurse & Support Staff

Charge Nurse

A Charge Nurse is available on each shift.

• Charge Nurse may be out of staffing depending on operational needs.
• Day shift: Charge may take approximately 1–3 patients.
• Night shift: Charge may take approximately 1–5 patients.

Nurse Aides / Patient Care Technicians

Patient care support is available at approximately 1:17.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Feeding assistance
• Blood glucose checks
• Bathing and hygiene assistance
• Toileting
• Assistance with laboratory collection/workflows
• Other delegated patient-care activities

Respiratory Support

For respiratory equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and other advanced respiratory support, nurses should appropriately contact Respiratory Therapy for assistance and management.

Telemetry Monitoring

• Continuous telemetry monitoring is available.
• Telemetry monitoring is supported through a virtual monitoring/CMU system in Arizona.
• RNs are responsible for independently reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
• RNs must also confirm the rhythm interpretation documented by the CMU.
• Monitor brand: GE

Schedule & Scheduling

• 12-hour shifts
• Self-scheduling requests are considered and accommodated when possible.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated for night-shift travelers requesting 3 consecutive night shifts.
• The facility does not accommodate schedules such as 6 consecutive shifts followed by an entire week off.

Weekend Requirement

Travel RNs are expected to work approximately:

5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period.

Holiday Requirement

Holiday coverage is required according to the facility's A/B/C holiday team rotation.

Call / Standby

• Travelers are typically not assigned to call.

Floating Requirements

Travel RNs may be required to float between all three campuses based on staffing and patient-care needs.

Flexibility across campuses is therefore an important requirement for this assignment.

Orientation

Department-specific orientation consists of approximately:

• 3 shifts total
• One orientation shift at each campus

This allows the traveler to become familiar with workflows and expectations across all three locations.

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs

Ideal Candidate

• Excellent cardiac rhythm interpretation skills.

• Flexibility to float across multiple campuses.
