• Schedule Quality: 36 hours per week. Day shift schedule with rotating weekends/holidays per department needs.

🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

• Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Texas State RN License or active eNLC Compact RN License held in hand at submission.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department RN experience in a high-volume urban teaching facility.
• EHR Proficiency: Mandatory Cerner EMR experience.
• Mandatory Certifications:
  • Active AHA BLS
  • Active AHA ACLS
  • Active AHA PALS
  • Active TNCC (Level I Trauma requirement)
• Clinical Adaptation: Must be comfortable managing inpatient boarders/holding patients in the ED during peak volume periods.
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs (top and bottom).

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A hospital at UT in downtown Austin, TX is seeking 3 experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses (RN ER) for a 13-week day contract in Emergency Dept - Trauma 1 001 (Department 12040). Operating as the region's premier 53-bed Level I Trauma Center and primary academic teaching hospital with an annual volume of 55,000–60,000 patient visits, the ER RN will direct high-acuity resuscitation, emergency stabilization, and boarder management.

• Level I Trauma & Emergency Resuscitation: Perform rapid primary/secondary assessments, manage major trauma activations, penetrating injuries, acute cardiac crises, severe neurological events, and complex multi-system resuscitations.
• Inpatient Boarder & Acute Care Management: Deliver continuous bedside care for high-acuity admitted patients held in the emergency department waiting for inpatient bed placement.
• Pharmacotherapy & Invasive Line Care: Administer continuous IV vasoactive infusions, sedatives, paralytics, and blood products while maintaining arterial lines, central lines, and advanced airway equipment.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely alongside 2 department charge nurses, attending physicians, resident physicians, PCTs, and transporters in a fast-paced academic medical environment.
