pt Job Summary: • Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Responsibilities: • Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders. • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Complexity of Work: • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Personal Protective Equipment: • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Minimum Qualifications Licensure / Certification / Registration: • Required Credential(s): • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. • One or more of the following: • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Instructor of Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Instructor of Basic Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. • Instructor specializing in Pediatric Adv Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. • Instructor specializing in Advanced Cardio Life Support obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. • Certified Instructor specializing in Basic Life Support obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Unit Description

Level 1 trauma teaching facility in downtown Austin. 53 bed emergency department with volume of 55,000-60,000/year. 2 charge nurses with physician  and nursing residency program. Staffing includes nursing, clerk, transporter, PCT mix. Holding/boarding of inpatient likely. Nursing staff wear navy top and bottom scrubs. Using Cerner for EHR.
