Description
Requirements
- At least 2 years of STAC step-down experience for traditional travelers
- Prior travel experience; first-time travelers are not accepted
- BLS and NIHSS
Schedule and patient care
- Ratio: 1:5
- Patients: Trauma and post-surgical patients, including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, blunt or penetrating trauma, assaults, ATV injuries, and amputations. The unit also cares for patients after elective procedures, Whipple procedures, and cholecystectomies.
- Skills: Blood administration; skeletal and Buck’s traction; drains, including JP and chest tubes; wound dressings, wound VACs, and wound care; heparin drips; high-flow oxygen; and stable BiPAP patients
- Floating: To mixed-acuity units only
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- On-call: None
- Holidays: Based on scheduled days and facility needs
