Position: ICU RN – Surgical/Trauma Neuro + Medical/Cardiac ICU
Shift: 12H Nights
Schedule: Nights + EOW; may be up to 3 weekends/month if unit is busy
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week
Contract: 13 weeks

🚨 Absolute Must-Haves

• Exactly 3 years of recent ICU experience – NO EXCEPTIONS
• Experience must include either Neuro ICU or CV/Cardiac ICU
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Must be comfortable titrating critical-care drips
• Must be willing to float between the 3 ICUs and Tele
• First-time travelers are accepted, provided they meet the ICU experience requirement
• 50-mile radius rule
• Cannot have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year

Patient Population

Surgical ICU – Trauma/Neuro

• Level I trauma
• Falls, GSWs, blunt trauma, MVAs
• Trauma patients age 15+
• Exploratory laparotomy
• Craniotomies
• Specialized neurosurgery
• CVA / post-tPA
• Sepsis
• ARDS

Medical/Cardiac ICU

• Sepsis, COVID, DKA, ARDS
• CRRT experience is helpful but not required
• Vascular surgery
• CABG – on/off pump
• Valve procedures
• Post-cath
• TAVR
• IABP
• Impella
• ECMO
• TandemHeart
• Esophagectomy

ICU Skills

RN must be comfortable titrating medications such as:

• Propofol
• Fentanyl
• Versed
• Precedex
• Levophed
• Vasopressin
• Cardene
• Dopamine
• Dobutamine
• Heparin
• Insulin
• Ketamine
• Rocuronium

Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 in ICU
Tele float: 1:3 or 1:4

Equipment

• Dräger
• Hamilton
• Puritan Bennett 840
• V60 BiPAP
• Airvo
• GE monitors

Important: No monitor techs — RN must interpret their own cardiac strips.

Schedule / Other Requirements

• Self-scheduling available, subject to unit needs
• 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule when required
• Night weekend = Friday/Saturday
• No additional call/standby
• May be low-census up to 3 times per contract
• First to float
• Navy scrubs
• 1–2 days unit-specific orientation
• Skills may be validated for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices
• May have 1 holiday off during assignment
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

Testing Requirement

UNA Dysrhythmia Exam:

• Must be completed 24–48 hours before acceptance
• Maximum 2 attempts
