Registered Nurse – Pre/Post Angio

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Pre/Post Angio department. The RN will provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology (IR), Electrophysiology (EP), and related cardiovascular and neuro-interventional procedures.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with patient admission, procedural preparation, recovery, telemetry monitoring, IV medication administration, and titration of drips in a fast-paced procedural environment.

• Department: Pre/Post Angio
• Capacity: 6 pre/post beds
• Average Daily Volume: 4–6 cases
• EMR: Epic
• Monitoring Equipment: Philips
• Cath Lab Tech Support: Available
• Charge Nurse: Charge nurse is present and may take a patient assignment when needed
• Orientation: Approximately 1 week / 4 shifts
• Scrubs: Hospital-provided scrubs

Patient Population & Procedures

The RN will care for patients undergoing a broad range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including:

• STEMI
• Stroke/neuro-interventional procedures
• Heart catheterizations
• Peripheral angiography
• Drain placement
• Line placement
• IVC filter placement
• Temporary pacemaker insertion
• Transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
• Cardioversions
• Electrophysiology (EP) studies
• Other Cath Lab, IR, and EP procedures

Key Responsibilities

• Admit, assess, prepare, and recover patients undergoing Cath Lab, IR, and EP procedures.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures according to department protocols.
• Interpret telemetry strips and recognize clinically significant rhythm changes.
• Safely administer and titrate IV medications and drips.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of commonly used IV medications.
• Provide post-procedure monitoring and recovery care.
• Collaborate with physicians, Cath Lab technicians, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic.
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns as necessary.
• Provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care in a procedural setting.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the license application process has been initiated.
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• Demonstrated experience in procedural patient care, including admission, preparation, and recovery.
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips.
• Demonstrated ability to administer and titrate IV medications/drips.
• Strong knowledge of commonly used IV medications.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and remain beyond the scheduled shift when patient care or procedural volume requires.

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Peripheral angiography
• Interventional Radiology (IR)
• Neuro-interventional procedures
• Cath Lab
• Electrophysiology (EP)

Scheduling

• Shift: 12-hour shifts
• Candidates may occasionally be required to stay late depending on procedural volume and patient needs.
• Orientation: Typically 4 shifts / approximately 1 week

OSF-Specific Requirements & Policies

• Local Rate: Clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles are subject to a $25 reduction from the regular and overtime bill rates.
• Call-Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks may be called off without penalty or payment for the shift.
• Orientation: 12 hours of orientation are non-billable; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
• Candidate submission must include:
  • Last four (4) digits of the clinician's SSN
  • Clinician's middle initial
  • Requested time off
  • Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
