• Schedule Quality: 40 hours per week. Block scheduling available.

• On-Call Requirement: On-call rotation required (weekend coverage consists of on-call shifts).

  Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

• Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered New Jersey State RN License or active eNLC Compact RN License held in hand at submission.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum 1+ year of dedicated Operating Room circulating experience. First-time travelers accepted.
• Mandatory Specialty Skills: Strong Orthopedics experience is strictly required. Must be fully proficient circulating Orthopedics, Spine, Robotics, and General Surgery.
• EHR Proficiency: Mandatory Epic EMR experience.
• Mandatory Certifications:
  • Active AHA BLS
  • Active AHA ACLS
• Strict 50-Mile Radius Rule: No local candidates allowed. Candidates residing within a 50-mile travel radius of the facility are strictly prohibited from applying.
• Return Staff Policy: Former permanent staff or previous travelers must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler.
• Submission & Compliance Directives: All Requested Time Off (RTO) MUST be submitted at the time of submittal. Core onboarding labs must be completed within 48 hours of signing. Non-billable orientation modules (4–6 hours) are completed onsite during orientation week.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A Medical Center in Westwood, NJ is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a 13-week contract in 5440-5198 - Operating Room. Operating within a 6-room perioperative suite averaging 15–18 daily surgical cases, the circulating nurse will coordinate intraoperative patient care, surgical field sterility, and procedural equipment across high-volume surgical specialties.

• Orthopedic & Spine Intraoperative Circulating: Direct intraoperative circulating for complex orthopedic and spine procedures, including Total Joint Replacements, Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstructions, Spinal Fusions, ALIF, Cervical Fusions, Kyphoplasty, Laminectomy/Discectomy, and Arthroscopy.
• Advanced Robotic & Surgical Technology: Operate specialized surgical technology, including Da Vinci Surgical Systems (Xi, SP), Mako Robotic Systems, Hana Orthopedic Tables, Cell Saver blood salvage systems, electrosurgical units, and fiberoptic light systems.
• Multi-Specialty Circulating Competency: Circulate diverse surgical specialties including Thoracic (VATS, thoracotomy, lobectomy), Bariatrics (gastric sleeve, lap band), General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, and Podiatry.
• Perioperative Safety & Compliance: Enforce Universal Protocol (Time-Outs), strict sterile technique, radiation/laser safety protocols, surgical count accuracy, specimen handling, and intraoperative blood product administration.
