Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab Technician / Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to support cardiac catheterization and other invasive cardiovascular procedures. The ideal candidate will have current, hands-on Cardiac Cath Lab experience and be proficient in both scrubbing and monitoring during procedures.
 

Acceptable Backgrounds

• Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)
• Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CVIS)
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
• Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist
• Cardiovascular Invasive Radiology Specialist
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist with direct Cath Lab experience

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and the Cath Lab for cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
• Assist with PCI, including STEMI procedures, and other cardiac interventions.
• Support peripheral vascular, pacemaker, and interventional radiology procedures as needed.
• Perform scrub and monitor responsibilities during procedures.
• Monitor, document, and calculate hemodynamic data accurately.
• Provide procedural assistance to physicians before, during, and after procedures.
• Assess and manage vascular access sites and promptly communicate findings to the physician.
• Prepare and position patients for procedures according to established protocols.
• Follow Cath Lab safety, infection-control, and procedural standards.
• Participate in the applicable Cath Lab on-call rotation and follow established call protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Current and direct Cardiac Cath Lab experience – Required
• Scrub and Monitor experience – Required
• IABP experience – Required
• BLS – Required
• ACLS – Required
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist, CVT, CVIS, RCIS, or comparable relevant credential
• Ability to work a 4-day, 9.5-hour schedule
• Ability to participate in required rotational on-call coverage

Preferred Qualifications

• RCIS certification – Preferred
• Experience with STEMI/PCI procedures
• Experience with peripheral vascular and pacemaker procedures
• Experience with interventional radiology procedures

Education

• High School Diploma or GED – Required
• Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or related program – Preferred

Additional Information

This is a 12-week contract assignment supporting the Cath Lab at Newton Medical Center. The position requires strong procedural knowledge and the ability to independently perform both scrub and monitor functions in a fast-paced invasive cardiovascular environment.
