Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Travel Assignment

Facility: Good Shepherd Medical Center
Shift: 5×8 Hour Day Shift
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures and provide quality patient care in a hospital setting. The technologist will prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, produce diagnostic images, and assist licensed practitioners with procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures.
• Review patient history and verify procedure information.
• Prepare and educate patients before procedures.
• Operate nuclear medicine imaging and radiation detection equipment.
• Position and immobilize patients as needed for quality imaging.
• Prepare, calculate, identify, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications as prescribed.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and proper patient identification.
• Perform venipuncture and maintain aseptic technique when required.
• Assist physicians with interventional procedures and verify informed consent.
• Monitor patient physical and emotional needs during procedures.
• Initiate basic life support when necessary.
• Follow radiation safety, universal precautions, and infection-control procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and patient confidentiality.
• Report equipment issues and assist with quality-control activities.
• Participate in department quality improvement programs.
• Provide instruction to students and other healthcare professionals when needed.
• Float to other departments when qualified, based on facility needs.

Requirements

Education

• Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• OBMI registration/license
• ARRT – Nuclear Medicine certification/registration
• Current BLS certification

Experience

• No minimum experience required.
• 2+ years of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred.

Additional

• CRASE training may be required if the assignment extends beyond 6 months.

Physical & Working Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently.
• Frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, and repositioning of patients/equipment.
• Ability to assist with patient transfers using proper lifting techniques and mechanical aids when necessary.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment with exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment.
• Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations.
