Job Summary

The Emergency Department RN provides nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of emergency and acute medical conditions, including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and behavioral health emergencies. The nurse must be comfortable working in a small community hospital ED and floating to other community hospital ER units as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and provide care to patients across various age groups, from infants and pediatrics to adults and geriatrics.
• Start and maintain IVs, administer emergency medications, and obtain 12-lead EKGs.
• Respond to patients with ACS, CVA/TIA, sepsis, respiratory conditions, diabetes-related emergencies, trauma, and behavioral health concerns.
• Provide care for common acute complaints, including hypertension, dehydration, UTIs, influenza, and COVID-19.
• Float to other community hospital emergency departments and other departments or units as needed.
• Collaborate with providers, radiology, social services, and other clinical team members.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of ER nursing experience
• Previous travel experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
• TNCC preferred
• Epic experience preferred
• 12-lead EKG, IV initiation/maintenance, and emergency medication administration required
• Pending licenses are not accepted
• Trauma, teaching hospital, and community hospital experience preferred
