Pharmacist – Mercy Hospital Springfield, MO
🏥 Position
- Role: Pharmacist
- Department: Acute Care Pharmacy
- Facility: Mercy Hospital Springfield
- Location: Springfield, Missouri
- Openings: 2
- Assignment: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Reason: Peak period / 4 overlapping FMLA coverages
- Extension: Very likely for at least 1 extension if performance is good.
🕐 Schedule
- Weekend Days
- Friday–Sunday
- 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- 36 hours/week
- Call requirements: As required by facility
- Facility requires the pharmacist to be on-site 100% of the time.
📋 Requirements
- Missouri Pharmacist License – REQUIRED
- BLS from AHA only – REQUIRED
- 1 year experience preferred/required in the posting, but new graduates will be considered.
- Must be able to perform central pharmacy/product verification duties.
💻 EMR / Pharmacy System
- EPIC
- Uses EPIC dispense prep to verify and check:
- Medications
- Kits
- Crash carts
- Pre-packed items
- Other pharmacy items as needed
💊 Main Responsibilities
This is primarily a central pharmacy/product verification role.
Day-to-day includes:
- Coordinating workflow in the central pharmacy
- Checking medication products
- Verifying IVs
- Checking premade IVs
- Checking creams
- Checking insulin pens
- Ensuring code carts are correctly restocked
- Verifying medications and pharmacy products
- Overseeing central pharmacy workflow
👥 Team / Workflow
Day shift:
- 5 pharmacists
- 10 technicians
Evening shift:
- 2 pharmacists
- 5–6 technicians
The traveler will be the primary pharmacist overseeing central pharmacy operations, while other pharmacists focus more on medication/order review within the EHR.
👨⚕️ Technician Oversight
- Will oversee the workflow of surrounding pharmacy technicians.
- May redirect technicians to appropriate tasks when needed.
- Will not formally supervise other individuals.
🎓 Training
- Approximately 2–3 weeks
- Training length depends on the pharmacist's capability.
- Training focuses primarily on product verification.
💉 Vaccination Requirement
From November 1–April 1:
- Flu vaccination required
- Mercy-approved exemption accepted
- Declinations are not accepted
