🏥 Travel RN – Telemetry Job Description

Facility: HCA Centerpoint Medical Center
Location: Independence, Missouri
Unit: Telemetry – Main Hospital
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 12-Hour Days
Contract: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
 

🏥 Unit Details

• Beds: 36
• Patient Ratio:
  • AM: 1:3 or 1:4
  • PM: 1:4 or 1:5
  • Ratios may vary depending on PCT availability
• Staffing: Typically RN-based care with no dedicated techs
• PCU secretaries are available 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• EMR: Meditech

🩺 Equipment

• BiPAP
• Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Alaris IV pumps
• Kangaroo feeding pumps
• New cardiac monitors with visual cardiac rhythm display in each room

✅ Required Qualifications

• BLS required
• ACLS required
• Strong advanced assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Experience managing vasoactive drips
• Experience with central line/PICC line placement

🏥 Hospital Designations

• Level II Trauma Center
• Stroke Accreditation
• STEMI Accreditation
• Certified Bariatric Center

🔄 Floating

• May float to Med-Surg units
• Bonus shifts float first
• FT/PT staff float according to rotation
• PRN staff may float once per week

📅 Scheduling

Full-Time:

• 36 hours/week
• Every 3rd weekend

Part-Time:

• 48 hours/week
• Every 3rd weekend

PRN 1:

• 3 shifts per 4 weeks
• 1 weekend shift required

PRN 2:

• 6 shifts per 4 weeks
• 3 weekend shifts required
• Rotating holiday schedule

👕 Dress Code

• Charcoal gray scrub tops
• Charcoal gray or black scrub bottoms
• Black or charcoal gray jacket permitted
• Unit-specific jackets may be ordered

• Comfortable managing cardiac/telemetry patients and vasoactive medications
• Able to adapt to floating requirements

🔑 Submission Must-Haves

BLS + ACLS + advanced assessment/critical thinking + vasoactive drip experience.

Important: This is a Telemetry position, but the role has higher-acuity expectations, including vasoactive drips, BiPAP/HFNC, and cardiac monitoring.
