NICU RN – Job Breakdown
🏥 Position / Facility
- Specialty: NICU RN
- NICU Level: Level IV NICU
- Hospital: 152-bed Level II Children's Hospital
- NICU Beds: 70
- Typical NICU census: ~50
- NICU is part of the pediatric hospital attached to the adult hospital.
- High-risk Labor & Delivery services.
- Private NICU rooms
- Level II Nursery overflow for feeders/growers
🕐 Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Days: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- Nights: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Guaranteed: 36 hours/week
- Contract: 89 weeks listed
- Weekend: Every other weekend
- Occasional back-to-back weekends may occur, but rare.
- On-call: No
- Block scheduling: Possible, but not guaranteed
👩⚕️ Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years Level III–IV NICU experience – REQUIRED
- Respiratory support for ventilated patients – REQUIRED
- First-time travelers accepted
- Travel experience is strongly preferred

- Washington State RN license
- BLS
- NRP

- Ventilator/respiratory support
- G-tubes
- NG/OG tubes
- NCPAP
- UAC/UVC management
- PICC lines
- Medication administration
- Care plans
- Discharge planning / DC to home
Highly Preferred:
- Trach experience
👶 Patient Population
Experience with:
- Premature infants as young as 22 weeks gestation
- Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS)
- High-risk deliveries
- High-risk newborns
- Feeders/growers
- NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome)
Preferred:
- Surgical NICU patients
- HIE – Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy

May float to:
