- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Associate of Science in Nursing
Description
Requirements
- At least 2 years of short-term acute care experience; 3 years preferred
- Prior travel experience; first-time travelers are not accepted
- BLS and NIHSS
- Step-down, telemetry, or experience taking higher-acuity patient assignments beyond Med/Surg
- Must be comfortable providing Med/Surg through step-down care
Schedule and patient care
- Ratio: 1:5
- Patients: Trauma and post-surgical patients, including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, blunt/penetrating trauma, amputations, and elective procedures
- Skills: Blood administration, skeletal and Buck’s traction, JP drains and chest tubes, wound care and wound VACs, heparin drips, high-flow oxygen, stable BiPAP, and possible insulin drips
- Support: Two CNAs per shift; daytime clerical support
- Floating: To mixed-acuity units only
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- On-call: None
