Shift Matrix: Day Shift | 07:00 – 19:30 (3x12-Hour Shifts)
- Work Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week (3x12-Hour Shifts). Every other weekend rotation required.
- Holiday Policy: Holiday shifts assigned per departmental needs. No on-call requirement.
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Per Week
🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:
- Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Florida State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License held in hand at submission.
- Credential Mandate: Active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential through the NBRC.
- Experience Baseline: Dedicated, recent Neonatal & Pediatric Respiratory Therapy experience is strictly required. Candidates without neonatal/pediatric care experience will be automatically rejected.
- Mandatory Certifications:
- Active AHA BLS
- Active AHA PALS
- Active NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred/highly recommended.
- Clinical Adaptation: Must be competent managing invasive mechanical ventilation for acute/med-surg pediatric inpatients as well as Level III NICU and PICU populations.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A Hospital in Pensacola, FL is seeking an experienced, high-acuity Pediatric Registered Respiratory Therapist (Pediatric RRT) for a 13-week day assignment in Respiratory Care 002 (Department 13861). Supporting the Studer Family Children's Hospital—the region's dedicated pediatric facility featuring a Level 3 NICU, PICU, and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center—the RRT will manage comprehensive, high-risk pulmonary care across neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patient populations.
- High-Acuity Ventilation Management: Initiate, manage, and optimize invasive mechanical ventilation (conventional, high-frequency oscillatory/jet ventilation), NIPPV, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula across PICU, NICU, and general pediatric floors.
- Airway & Inhaled Gas Therapies: Direct airway management, perform endotracheal intubation assistance, administer inhaled nitric oxide (iNO), surfactant replacement, hypertonic saline, and specialized aerosolized pharmacotherapy.
- Trauma & Emergency Response: Serve as primary respiratory clinician during pediatric resuscitation, high-level trauma activations, emergency intubations, and acute respiratory deterioration.
- Inpatient & Critical Care Floor Coverage: Deliver specialized cardiopulmonary care to ventilated pediatric patients placed on general Acute Care and Med-Surg floors as well as intensive care units.
