Cardiac Telemetry RN – Travel Assignment


Position: Registered Nurse – Cardiac Telemetry
Facility: Centerpoint Medical Center
Department: 7N Cardiac Telemetry
Location: Independence, Missouri
Address: 19600 E. 39th Street
Building: Main Hospital
Floor: 7
Job Type: Travel Assignment
Shift: Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Contract Length: 91 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
 

Unit Overview

The 7N Cardiac Telemetry Unit is a 36-bed unit located on the 7th floor of the Main Hospital in Independence, Missouri.

The department provides care for patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring and management of a variety of cardiac and complex medical conditions.

 

Staffing

Day Shift

  • 1 Charge Nurse
  • 9 RN/LPNs
  • 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)

Night Shift

  • 1 Charge Nurse
  • 8 RN/LPNs
  • 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)

Typical Patient Ratio: 4–5 patients per nurse

 

Required Qualifications

  • ACLS Certification – Required
  • Cardiac Telemetry experience – Required
  • Experience recovering post-cath patients – Required
    • Sheath removal is not required
  • Experience caring for patients with pacemaker placements – Required
  • Experience caring for stroke patients – Required
  • Experience managing Amiodarone drips – Required
  • Experience managing Cardizem drips – Required
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • NIH certification/experience – Preferred

Key Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

The RN will provide direct patient care within the Cardiac Telemetry environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor cardiac telemetry patients and recognize changes in condition
  • Provide care for post-cardiac catheterization patients
  • Recover patients following cardiac catheterization procedures
  • Care for patients following pacemaker placement
  • Care for patients experiencing or recovering from stroke
  • Monitor and manage patients receiving Amiodarone infusions
  • Monitor and manage patients receiving Cardizem infusions
  • Perform ongoing patient assessment and monitoring
  • Communicate changes in patient condition to the healthcare team
  • Provide safe and effective nursing interventions
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PCTs, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation
  • Support patient safety and quality care throughout the assignment

The unit utilizes:

  • Pyxis
  • Alaris Pumps
  • Welch Allyn Vital Signs Machines

EMR

Meditech

Candidates should be comfortable working with the facility's Meditech documentation system.

 

Floating Requirements

The RN may be required to float to:

  • Other Telemetry departments
  • Medical-Surgical units
  • PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Travelers should be prepared to float according to facility staffing needs and within their applicable clinical competencies.

 

Schedule

Primary Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Shift Length: 12 Hours
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week

Weekend Requirement

The schedule includes 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule.

For night shift:

  • Friday and Saturday

For day shift:

  • Saturday and Sunday

Dress Code

RNs: Grey scrubs

The facility is seeking a fast-paced, high-energy RN with a strong sense of teamwork who is comfortable caring for cardiac telemetry patients and managing complex cardiac therapies.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with:

  • Post-cath recovery
  • Pacemaker patients
  • Stroke patients
  • Amiodarone drips
  • Cardizem drips
  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring
