Requirements

• 3 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required.
• First-time travelers are not accepted.
• BLS, FHM, and NRP required.
• Strong experience with antepartum and intrapartum care.
• Experience with low- and high-risk deliveries.
• Experience with external and internal fetal monitoring.
• Proficiency with EFM, spiral electrode placement, and IUPC placement/calibration.
• Experience with obstetric complications including pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, PROM, preterm labor, malpresentations, multiple gestations, and VBAC.
• Experience assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
• C-section circulation and recovery experience required.
• Experience with high-risk delivery, hemorrhage/shock, and postpartum hemorrhage.
• Experience with neonatal resuscitation and newborn care.
• Proficiency with obstetric medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Prostaglandins, Terbutaline, insulin drips, and antihypertensives.
• Experience with blood/blood product administration and IV therapy.
• Breastfeeding/lactation support experience.
• LDRP experience preferred; LD/LDR experience may be considered.
• Must be willing to float to Postpartum within scope.
• Must be available for weekend and on-call requirements.
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.
• Pending license accepted.
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients.
• Assess and continuously monitor maternal and fetal conditions.
• Perform and interpret fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Assist with vaginal, high-risk, and cesarean deliveries.
• Circulate for C-sections and recover post-operative patients.
• Provide newborn care and assist with neonatal resuscitation when needed.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and obstetric treatments safely.
• Manage patients receiving Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, insulin drips, antihypertensives, and other ordered therapies.
• Perform sterile vaginal/speculum examinations and appropriate obstetric assessments.
• Provide postpartum, couplet, and post-operative GYN care when assigned.
• Provide breastfeeding and lactation support.
• Monitor and manage patients with obstetric complications.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using designated monitoring/documentation systems.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Follow AWHONN staffing standards, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety protocols.
• Participate in required weekend and on-call coverage.
• Float to the Postpartum unit as needed to support patient care.
