Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (RN ER)

Shift Matrix: Rotating Shift | Day / Evening / Night Rotation
- Work Schedule: 48 Hours Per Week (3x12-Hour or 4x12-Hour Shifts). Rotating schedule including blocked weekends.
Operational Requirements: Mandatory floating, holiday coverage, on-call, callback, and charge nurse duties per unit operational needs.
Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 Hours Per Week
🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:
- Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered New York State RN License held in hand at submission (NYS license ONLY).
- Travel Experience Mandate: Must have previous travel ER experience. First-time travelers are strictly prohibited and will be automatically rejected.
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated ED/ER RN experience in a high-volume emergency setting.
- Clinical Skills Mandate: Telemetry experience is strictly required.
- Mandatory Certifications (AHA Only):
- Active AHA BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
- Active AHA ACLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
- Active NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- Acuity & Environment Adaptation: Must be competent managing boarder patients, Level 1 trauma activations, and rapid emergency triage in a high-volume academic emergency center.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A Hospital in Rochester, NY is seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses (RN ER) for 13-week contracts in a fast-paced Adult Emergency Department. Operating within the region's sole Level I Trauma Center—managing over 100,000 patient visits annually—the RN ER will direct rapid emergency triage, trauma resuscitation, boarder patient care, and acute stabilization for complex emergency populations.
- High-Acuity Emergency Triage & Resuscitation: Perform rapid clinical triage, manage acute trauma activations, administer life-saving emergency interventions, and direct resuscitation efforts in a Level I trauma center.
- Continuous Telemetry & Advanced Monitoring: Provide continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpret complex dysrhythmias, administer emergency continuous drips, and execute rapid stroke/STEMI protocols.
- Emergency Department Boarder Care: Direct comprehensive inpatient-level nursing care for boarder patients awaiting acute inpatient bed placement within the emergency department.
- Interdisciplinary Trauma Care: Partner with trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, stroke teams, and critical care transport units to stabilize, treat, and admit high-acuity emergency cases.
