Typical Patient Population
The IMC unit cares for higher-acuity medical and cardiac patients, including:
- STEMI
- NSTEMI
- CHF
- COPD
- Sepsis
- CABG Pod 2
- Acute Respiratory Failure
- Atrial Fibrillation with RVR
- ALIF
- XLIF
Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Contract Duration: 91 days
- Weekend: As scheduled
- Orientation: Weekly

Call Requirements
Call is required.
When the RN is placed on call:
- Must be able to report to the facility within 30 minutes
- Candidate must be able to reliably meet the 30-minute response requirement

Floating Requirements
The RN may be required to float to:
- Medical-Surgical
- Telemetry
- ED holds when patients are ready for admission
Candidate should therefore have sufficient experience to safely care for patients in these areas.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute-care RN experience – REQUIRED
- Travel experience – REQUIRED
- Recent experience relevant to IMC/PCU/Telemetry preferred
- Experience caring for high-acuity adult and geriatric patients
License
- Current Arizona RN license – REQUIRED

The RN should be comfortable managing multiple higher-acuity patients while maintaining appropriate monitoring and patient safety.
RN Responsibilities
The IMC RN will be responsible for:
Patient Care
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments
- Monitor adult and geriatric patients
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
- Administer medications and treatments
- Monitor patient responses to treatment
- Recognize changes in patient condition
- Escalate clinical concerns appropriately
Cardiac & Telemetry Care
- Monitor patients with cardiac conditions
- Care for STEMI/NSTEMI patients
- Monitor CHF patients
- Care for patients with A-fib with RVR
- Monitor telemetry patients
- Recognize changes in cardiac status
High-Acuity Medical Care
- Care for patients with COPD
- Manage patients with sepsis
- Care for patients with acute respiratory failure
- Monitor post-CABG patients as appropriate to the unit
- Care for surgical patients including ALIF/XLIF populations
Documentation
- Document assessments, interventions and patient responses
- Use Medhost EHR
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Collaboration
- Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Communicate patient status changes
- Participate in interdisciplinary care
- Provide patient/family education
- Support safe patient transfers and admissions
Floating Expectations
The traveler may float to:
Med-Surg / Telemetry
and may also be assigned to:
ED holds when patients are ready for admission.
Candidates should be comfortable adapting to different patient populations and workflows.
