Position Overview
Mon Health Medical Center is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse for its 6N Medicine Unit.
This is a 34-bed Med/Surg unit with telemetry caring for adult patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions.
The RN will provide comprehensive bedside nursing care, monitor telemetry patients, administer medications and treatments, manage lines and drains, recognize changes in patient condition, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
The unit uses an acuity-based staffing tool to help optimize patient assignments and staffing levels.
Schedule
- Shift: Night
- Shift Time: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM / 7:30 AM
- Schedule: 4 × 12-hour nights OR 3 × 12-hour nights
- Weekdays: Required as scheduled
- Weekends: Required
- Weekend Requirement: 3 × 12-hour weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
- Start Date: ASAP

- Telemetry experience
- Adult acute-care experience
Travel Experience
Travel experience is NOT required.
First-time travelers may be considered.
Charge Experience

- West Virginia RN license OR Compact RN license
Pending License
Pending WV license may be accepted for submission.

Primary RN Responsibilities
The Med/Surg RN will be responsible for:
Patient Assessment
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments
- Monitor vital signs and patient condition
- Identify changes in patient status
- Escalate significant clinical changes appropriately
Medication Administration
- Administer medications safely
- Follow medication protocols
- Manage appropriate IV medications
- Follow heparin protocols when applicable
- Manage PCA therapy when applicable
Telemetry
- Monitor telemetry patients
- Recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias
- Respond appropriately to changes in cardiac rhythm
- Escalate concerning findings
Respiratory Care
- Manage oxygen therapy
- Care for patients requiring nasal cannula
- Manage HFNC patients
- Provide BiPAP/CPAP support as appropriate
- Monitor patients with respiratory conditions
Lines / Tubes / Drains
- Manage peripheral IVs
- Care for central lines and PICCs
- Manage chest tubes
- Care for feeding tubes
- Manage surgical drains
- Provide tracheostomy care when required
Other Clinical Care
- Provide wound care
- Manage wound VACs
- Administer blood products
- Assist with pre/post cardiac catheterization care
