Position Summary
A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse leader to serve as Director of Quality Services. This position provides leadership and oversight for organizational quality, patient safety, performance improvement, risk management, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities across multiple healthcare settings.
The Director works collaboratively with executive leadership, medical staff, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to promote high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and continuous performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), patient safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Provide oversight and leadership for quality-related functions including Infection Prevention, Case Management, Utilization Review, Social Services, Employee Health, and related programs.
- Maintain organizational readiness for CMS, The Joint Commission, state regulatory agencies, and other applicable accreditation and licensing requirements.
- Monitor quality and patient-safety indicators, identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and develop appropriate action plans.
- Lead or facilitate root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop and present quality dashboards, scorecards, and performance reports to leadership and governing bodies.
- Support patient complaint and grievance processes and identify trends affecting patient experience and safety.
- Collaborate with medical staff on quality review activities, including OPPE/FPPE and other performance monitoring.
- Provide education and guidance to leaders and staff regarding quality, patient safety, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Supervise and support staff within assigned quality-related departments and programs.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN license or ability to obtain appropriate state licensure.
- Minimum of two years of professional nursing experience, preferably within an acute-care hospital setting.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare quality, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and accreditation standards.
- Experience working with CMS and The Joint Commission requirements.
- Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field.
- Previous hospital Quality Management/Quality Services leadership experience.
- CPHQ or comparable healthcare quality certification.
- Experience leading regulatory surveys, QAPI initiatives, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
Additional Requirements
Position may require travel between healthcare facilities and occasional extended hours to support regulatory surveys, audits, or other operational needs.
