OT Acute Care

Overview

  • Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days
  • Hours: 40 per week
  • Primary schedule: Mon-Fri, generally 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
  • Weekends required: 1 weekend/month
  • No call required
  • Setting: Inpatient acute care and rehab
  • Unit size: 21 beds
  • Local candidates accepted within 80 miles

Required Qualifications

  • BLS Certification
  • Occupational Therapist role in acute care
  • Must be able to evaluate and treat medically complex and often medically unstable patients
  • Must be able to manage a high-volume caseload and a dynamic schedule
  • Must be able to communicate with an interdisciplinary team
  • Must function within the scope and standards of occupational therapy practice as outlined in the South Dakota Occupational Therapy Practice Act and Administrative Rules

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized occupational therapy treatment
  • Perform evaluations, treatment interventions, team conferences, documentation, and FIMs
  • Use modalities if able to perform them
  • Assess and adjust treatment plans as needed
  • Recommend appropriate discharge destinations
  • Supervise certified occupational therapist assistants, aides, and students when asked
  • Supervise students providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as part of their training when asked

  • Computerized charting
  • Access to UE Bioness and Dynavision
  • Orientation includes 1 to 2 days of computer documentation training plus additional department-specific training over several days
  • Dress code: business casual or polo in Ceil Blue, Khaki, Gray, or Chocolate Brown; no jeans; modest attire
  • Clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
  • If the clinician has ever worked for Sanford Health, this must be noted in submission; prior employment there requires an end date at least 6 months before submission
