Description
Required qualifications
- California LVN/LPN license
- The posting specifically requires a CA-licensed nurse.
- This is an LVN position, not an RN position.
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Current BLS-level CPR is required.
- Good physical health and stamina
- Must be able to walk, bend, lift, and perform the physical tasks required for patient care.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with patients who may be confused or potentially verbally/physically aggressive.
- Strong assessment skills and ability to respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Clinical skills expected
The LVN should be capable of performing or assisting with:
- Patient assessments and identifying abnormal findings.
- Developing individualized plans of care.
- Physician-ordered treatments.
- EKGs
- Blood draws
- IV starts
- Medication administration and documentation.
- Emergency/resuscitation procedures.
- Patient and family education.
- Infection-control and safety procedures.
- Specimen collection.
- AM blood draws.
- Patient transfers for procedures/diagnostic testing.
- Acute-care nursing under the direction of the charge RN.
- Care of acute and swing-bed patients.
- CNA delegation/follow-up and ensuring assigned care is completed.
- Maintaining accurate patient charts and nursing documentation.
