Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts, nights

Unit Details

• CVICU
• 20 beds, all private and all monitored
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• At least 2 solid years of CVICU experience
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
• Must be able to interpret strips
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to take care of the listed patient population and equipment without training

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS
• CCRN
• Prior ICU travel assignments
• Experience with immediate post-op, VAD, and transplant patients

Patient Population and Clinical Experience

• Post open heart surgical patients, including CABG, valves, CABG/Valve, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, carotids, and post cardiovascular procedures
• STEMI, unstable angina, unstable N-STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, targeted temperature management, transcutaneous pacing, transvenous pacing, severe heart failure, TAVRs, cardiac-related ICU patients, ventilated patients, overflow patients from other ICUs including COVID patients
• Post VAD placement and post heart transplant patients are coming soon

Equipment and Monitoring

• IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT
• PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines
• Philips monitoring
• Ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide
• Multiple titratable drips, including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and esmolol

Scheduling and Unit Expectations

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• Float to every level of care
• Travelers are expected to take a full team
• Charge nurses are available 24/7 and may take teams at times
• House supervisor is available 24/7
• Respiratory therapists are available 24/7
• PCTs are available
• Non-self-scheduling
• No blocking

Orientation

• 1 day unit-specific orientation
• 2 days with a preceptor

Submission Requirements

• Last four digits of SSN
• Middle initial
• Requested time off
• Negative drug screen required

• Local rate applies within 50 miles
• 12 hours of non-billable orientation
• Scrubs are not provided
