Schedule: Full-Time
Setting: Pediatric Respiratory Care
Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a compassionate, skilled Respiratory Therapist to support infants, children, and young adults with complex respiratory needs. In this hands-on pediatric role, you will work closely with pulmonologists, attending physicians, patients, and families to deliver safe, high-quality respiratory care.
Patients may require ventilator support due to prematurity, congenital cardio-respiratory conditions, or other complex needs. You will play an important role in helping patients progress toward ventilator weaning, supporting tracheostomy care, and educating families preparing to care for a child at home.
What You’ll Do
- Provide respiratory care to pediatric patients from birth through age 22.
- Manage and wean invasive mechanical ventilation.
- Support tracheostomy tube management and decannulation.
- Provide non-invasive ventilatory support, including Bi-Level ventilation.
- Evaluate, manage, and administer respiratory medications and treatments.
- Perform respiratory muscle evaluations and exercise support.
- Respond to airway emergencies and provide CPR support as needed.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care, ventilator use, and safe home-care practices.
- Assist with patient transport to other hospitals when needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to support individualized treatment plans.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited two-year certificate or four-year respiratory care program.
- Current Massachusetts Respiratory Care license.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current BCLS certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
- PALS and NALS certifications.
- Pediatric, neonatal, ventilator, tracheostomy, or complex respiratory-care experience.
