Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pathologists Assistant to join our dynamic pathology team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the diagnostic process by preparing, processing, and analyzing tissue specimens in accordance with laboratory standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
- Prepare and process tissue samples for pathological examination, including fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Assist pathologists by performing detailed gross examinations of specimens and documenting findings accurately.
- Conduct laboratory tissue sectioning, histological staining, and immunohistochemistry procedures following standard operating protocols.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, cryostats, and tissue processors, ensuring proper calibration and cleanliness.
- Manage laboratory information systems (LIS) for specimen tracking, data entry, and report generation with precision.
- Follow CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations and laboratory safety protocols at all times.
- Support research activities by preparing specimens for experimental analysis in research laboratories.
- Collect and process patient specimens with proper aseptic technique while adhering to infection control standards.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure accurate specimen collection, processing, and documentation.
- Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures, quality control measures, and specimen handling processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in clinical or research laboratory settings with a focus on pathology or histotechnology.
- Proficiency in laboratory tissue sample preparation, histological techniques, and immunohistochemistry.
- Knowledge of laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs), CLIA regulations, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as microtomes, cryostats, tissue processors, and related tools.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) for specimen management and data recording.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology principles, and medical laboratory procedures.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and specimen collection with precision and care.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with effective communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior hospital or healthcare facility experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety practices including aseptic technique and vital signs monitoring during patient interactions.
