Travel Cath Lab RN
Shift: Days, 4x10 hours
Schedule: 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract: 91 weeks
Charting: Cerner
Facility: Level IV Trauma Center / Major Teaching Hospital
Position Overview
This is a Cath Lab RN position requiring strong experience with diagnostic and interventional procedures, including structural heart cases.
Daily caseload: Approximately 8–10 cases per tech.
Requirements
- 2+ years RN experience required
- Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab experience
- Must be competent in:
- Diagnostic Cath Lab procedures
- Interventional procedures
- Structural heart procedures
- Circulating
- Moderate sedation
- Patient assessment
- Medication administration
- Pre-op and post-op care
- Cath Lab call
- First-time travelers are NOT accepted
- BLS and ACLS – AHA required
- WV or Compact RN license required
- Pending WV license can be submitted, but active WV license must be in hand before start
- RCIS alone is NOT accepted as a licensed Cath Lab professional in WV
Call Requirement
Call is a major part of this position:
- 2–3 weekday nights of call from 7:00 PM–6:30 AM
- Second-call rotation included
- Weekend call approximately every 4–5 weeks
- Weekend call runs Friday 7:00 PM through Monday 6:30 AM
- First and second call rotate every 12 hours during the weekend
- 2-hour callback minimum
- 10 teams total; 2 teams cover each weekend
Floating
- No routine floating
- May float within scope if facility needs require it
- Traveler will most likely remain in the Cath Lab

- Approximately 838 staffed beds
- Cerner EMR
- Scrubs provided
- Free parking for travelers
Compliance & Submission
- 100-mile radius rule
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility
- Candidates 75–99 miles away may be considered case-by-case
- RTO must be included at submission
- 2 manager and/or charge nurse references from the past 2 years
- Full submission file due by Monday at noon before the start date
- Incomplete documentation may result in a 2-week start-date push
- SSN and DOB required at submission
- Required certifications must be listed on the application
- Modules are non-billable and generally take 2–6 hours
- Orientation is held every other Thursday
- One pre-approved RTO period allowed
Eligibility Restrictions
- Former permanent employees must wait 2 years after their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
- Current Vandalia Health System employees, including PRN, are not eligible
- This restriction applies across the listed Vandalia Health facilities
Vaccination
- COVID vaccine: Not required
- Flu vaccine: Required; medical exemptions accepted
Best candidate: Experienced Cath Lab RN with 2+ years RN experience, at least 1 year strong Cath Lab experience, structural heart/interventional experience, moderate sedation and circulating skills, prior travel experience, BLS/ACLS, and willingness to take frequent weekday and weekend call.
