Job Breakdown – Pediatric Med-Surg RN

Position: Pediatric Med-Surg RN
Contract: 13 weeks
Start Date: 10/19/2026
Shift: Nights
Schedule: 3×12s or 4×12s
Hours: Approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM

Facility / Unit

• 18-bed Pediatric Med-Surg unit
• Acute pediatric setting
• Patients include:
  • Appendectomies
  • Tonsil/adenoidectomies
  • Viral illnesses
  • Ingestions requiring medical clearance
  • Behavioral health patients with underlying medical needs
• Fast-paced environment with a mix of acute and transitional pediatric conditions

🚨 Experience Required

The facility strongly prefers candidates with:

• Strong Med-Surg experience – REQUIRED
• Behavioral/Psychiatric experience – REQUIRED
• Pediatric experience – preferred
• Travel RN experience – REQUIRED
• At least 1 year of travel experience
• Must be comfortable caring for behavioral health patients in addition to medical/surgical patients

Certifications

• BLS – AHA
• PALS – AHA
• RQI certifications are NOT accepted
• AHA certifications must be scheduled upon job acceptance

License Requirements

RN must have:

• Missouri or Compact RN license
• Kansas RN license

For the main campus, the Kansas license may be pending at start, but documentation showing the application has been submitted is required.

Floating

⚠️ Floating is required.

Travelers may float between:

• Main Kansas City, MO facility
• Sister hospital in Overland Park, KS, approximately 12 miles southwest

• Same rate for locals
• Smoke-free facility
• COVID vaccine required — medical/religious exemptions accepted
• Flu vaccine required — no exemptions
• Medication/dosage test during the first week
  • 100% required to pass
  • 3 attempts allowed
• Only AHA BLS/ACLS certifications accepted; RQI is not accepted
• All documents due by EOD Tuesday before the start date
