Description
Specialty: Labor & Delivery / OB / Postpartum (LDRP)
Shift: 12-hour days, 6:45 AM start
Schedule: Every other weekend (EOW), rotate holidays with staff
Guaranteed hours: 36/week
Contract: 14 weeks
Charting: Cerner
BSN: Not required
License: Must have license to submit
Unit
- Facility: CommonSpirit-associated facility in the Sacramento area
- L&D beds: 10
- Postpartum beds: 12
- OR suites for C-sections: 2
- Triage beds: 3
- OB-ED: 3 beds/overflow capacity
- Births: ~140–165/month
- Ratios:
- L&D: 1:1–1:2
- Couplets: 1:3–1:4
- Antepartum: 1:1–1:3
Required Skills & Certifications
Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- AWHONN Advanced / Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- L&D experience
- Ability to circulate C-sections
- Ability to float to Mother-Baby (MB)
- Must be comfortable with couplet care and the entire LDRP workflow
- Must be able to titrate Pitocin
- Must read/interpret EKG strips for moms in PACU
Preferred:
- STABLE
Important Job Requirements
This is a high-risk unit, and the traveler is expected to:
- Manage patients from start to finish
- Perform couplet care
- Work L&D, OB, and postpartum
- Circulate C-sections
- Take the “Baby Catcher”/NRP role when assigned
- Float to other Sacramento-area facilities if needed
- Respond within 30 minutes if placed on call
Holidays
Travelers will generally work 2 of 3 major holidays:
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
- New Year's
Holiday time off can be requested but is not guaranteed.
