Job Description
Lumbee Group is recruiting Medical Technologists / Medical Laboratory Scientists / Clinical Laboratory Scientists for an anticipated federal healthcare contract supporting the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Medical Technologist will perform complex clinical laboratory testing and support laboratory operations in accordance with applicable VA, CAP, FDA, and CLIA standards.
Responsibilities may include:
- Perform qualitative and quantitative testing on blood, urine, spinal fluid, tissue, and other specimens.
- Perform high-complexity laboratory testing.
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and automated systems.
- Perform quality-control testing and evaluate validation results.
- Review laboratory data and identify abnormal or critical results.
- Communicate critical laboratory results to appropriate clinical personnel.
- Perform microbiology testing and organism identification as assigned.
- Perform blood typing, antibody screening, and crossmatching.
- Prepare and issue blood and blood products as required.
- Assist with validation and implementation of new laboratory methods and equipment.
- Follow laboratory safety, OSHA, CLIA, and quality requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree as a Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist, OR a bachelor's degree in:
- Microbiology
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Or a related scientific field
- Current ASCP or AMT national certification is required.
- Certification must be as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist as applicable.
- Tennessee state license
- Relevant clinical laboratory experience.
- Must provide a current resume and copies of applicable certifications with the bid submission.
- Must reside within 75 miles of the Memphis VA Medical Center.
