Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented ASCP or AMT Certified Medical Technologist to join our dynamic clinical laboratory team. This pivotal role involves performing a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures to support accurate diagnosis, treatment, and research initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in laboratory management, specimen processing, and advanced diagnostic techniques, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining high-quality laboratory operations. This position offers an engaging opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge clinical trials, research projects, and patient care through precise laboratory work.

 

Duties

  • Conduct a variety of complex laboratory tests including clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunoassays, PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, RNA extraction, and DNA isolation to support diagnostic and research objectives.
  • Manage laboratory information systems (LIS) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to accurately record, analyze, and report test results.
  • Perform specimen collection and processing procedures such as venipuncture, blood sampling, and blood banking while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
  • Implement laboratory quality control protocols to ensure accuracy, precision, and compliance with CLIA regulations.
  • Operate and maintain medical laboratory equipment including centrifuges, analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic instruments; troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
  • Interpret diagnostic test results accurately for clinical relevance; collaborate with physicians and researchers for data analysis.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of laboratory procedures, calibrations, maintenance logs, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards related to medical laboratory work.
  • Assist in training new staff or interns on laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and data management practices.
  • Support research laboratories by preparing reagents, managing inventory of supplies, and assisting with experimental protocols.

Experience

  • Proven clinical laboratory experience with a strong background in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology testing, hematology, clinical chemistry testing, and blood banking.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing laboratory quality control protocols and adhering to CLIA regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular techniques such as PCR, RNA extraction, DNA isolation; proficiency in immunoassays including ELISA; familiarity with flow cytometry is highly desirable.
  • Experience working within hospital or healthcare settings involving specimen collection (phlebotomy) and venipuncture procedures.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data management.
  • Familiarity with medical laboratory equipment operation including analyzers used in clinical chemistry testing.
  • Strong understanding of microbiology testing methods as well as diagnostic test interpretation.
  • Prior involvement in clinical trials or research laboratories is advantageous.
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols while maintaining high standards of accuracy; excellent organizational skills are essential.
