Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Care for patients with neurological conditions, medical illnesses, and medical-telemetry needs.
- Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and vital signs and recognize changes in patient conditions.
- Administer medications and perform drug titration safely and accurately.
- Assess patients, implement individualized care plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes.
- Coordinate patient care with physicians, ancillary departments, and other healthcare professionals.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers.
- Maintain patient safety, rights, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Use equipment such as telemetry monitors, IV pumps, lift equipment, and tube-feeding pumps.
- Document patient care accurately in the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Follow the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, facility policies, nursing standards, and Mercy's mission and values.
- Assist with lifting, turning, and repositioning patients while following safe patient-handling practices.
- Float to other units on a rotational basis as required by the facility.
- Work night shifts and be available for orientation on day shift for the entire orientation week.
Job Requirements
Mandatory requirements
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure in Missouri.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only.
Minimum of 1 year of inpatient telemetry nursing experience.
Experience and competency in medication and drug titration.
Ability to work night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Ability to float to other units as required.
Ability to manage patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, stooping, and assisting with patient transfers.
Compliance with the facility's black-scrub dress code.
