Pharmacy Retail Supervisor (813695):
Facility: San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center (SCAHC)
Location: 103 Medicine Way, Peridot, AZ 85542
Contract Dates: November 2, 2026 – May 1, 2027
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week (8x5)
Employment Type: Contract, with potential for full-time conversion
Position Overview:
San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Retail Supervisor to oversee pharmacy operations, supervise pharmacy technicians, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of pharmacy services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmacy operations, hospital pharmacy experience, and demonstrated leadership in supervising pharmacy staff. Local candidates interested in transitioning to a full-time position are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality service delivery.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and other assigned personnel, including staff development, performance evaluations, training, and workflow coordination.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate pharmacy policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Monitor operational and financial performance and contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve prescription processing, workflow efficiency, medication safety, and service quality.
- Oversee pharmacy dispensing systems and computer-based information systems to support accurate medication processing and documentation.
- Manage pharmaceutical purchasing, inventory, stock availability, and cost-effective inventory control.
- Coordinate staff orientation, on-the-job training, continuing education, and competency assessments.
- Prepare monthly operational reports, identify performance concerns, and recommend improvements.
- Support quality assurance activities and collaborate with other hospital departments.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or an equivalent qualifying pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
- Current, active, unrestricted pharmacist license.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional pharmacy experience, including 2 years of management or supervisory experience, as specified in the minimum qualifications.
- Experience supervising pharmacy technicians.
- Hospital pharmacy experience is required according to the additional client notes.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire, as specified in the minimum qualifications.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- No relevant professional license disciplinary actions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency.
- At least 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience.
- Active Arizona pharmacist license.
- Experience administering immunizations, vaccines, and emergency medications.
- Experience with pharmacy operations, inventory management, dispensing systems, staff supervision, and quality improvement.
Schedule and Work Expectations:
- Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts (8x5).
- Local candidates are preferred due to the potential for full-time employment after the contract.
- Candidates must be able to meet the facility’s operational and supervisory requirements.
