Lead Pharmacist (812304):
Facility: San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center (SCAHC)
Location: 103 Medicine Way, Peridot, AZ 85542
Department: Pharmacy
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week (8x5)
Shift Flexibility: Must be flexible with days and hours; 8- or 10-hour shifts may be required based on operational needs.
Candidate Preference: Local candidates preferred.
Position Overview:
San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center is seeking an experienced Pharmacist to serve as a Technician Operations Lead, overseeing pharmacy technician workflows and supporting efficient, safe, and compliant pharmacy operations.
The ideal candidate will have hospital pharmacy experience, leadership skills, and the ability to supervise and develop pharmacy staff. Candidates with a PharmD, residency training, and an active Arizona pharmacist license are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee daily pharmacy operations, with a focus on technician workflows, productivity, and service quality.
- Supervise, train, and support pharmacy technicians and other assigned personnel.
- Coordinate staffing, workflow distribution, and daily operational priorities to maintain timely and accurate medication services.
- Monitor operational performance and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate pharmacy policies and procedures in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance medication safety and operational performance.
- Oversee pharmacy dispensing systems and computer-based applications to support accurate processing and documentation.
- Assist with purchasing, inventory control, and maintaining appropriate medication supplies.
- Provide staff feedback, support professional development, and coordinate training and competency assessments.
- Prepare operational reports and communicate performance concerns and improvement recommendations to management.
- Participate in orientation, quality assurance, and departmental education initiatives.
- Support immunization and medication-related services as authorized and appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution or an equivalent qualifying pharmacy degree.
- Current, active, unrestricted pharmacist license.
- Hospital pharmacy experience required.
- Experience leading pharmacy operations and supervising pharmacy technicians.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire, subject to facility confirmation.
- Ability to pass required background and drug screening.
- Flexibility to work the required schedule and adjust hours according to operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency.
- At least 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience.
- Experience in pharmacy technician operations, workflow coordination, and staff supervision.
- Active Arizona pharmacist license.
- Authorization to administer immunizations, vaccines, and emergency medications.
- Local to the area and interested in potential long-term employment.
Minimum Experience:
The supplied requirements contain different experience thresholds:
- One section specifies 2 years of pharmacist experience, with at least 2 years in hospital practice preferred.
- The minimum qualifications section specifies 5 years of professional experience, including 2 years of management experience.
