Travel Contract – Anesthesia Technician

 

Position Details

  • Job Title: Anesthesia Technician – Req #11068
  • Location: Hospital-based, Short-Term Acute Care Facility
  • Start Date: November 9, 2026
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Positions Available: 1
  • Shift: Days, 5 × 8-hour shifts
  • Regular Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Block Scheduling: Available
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: Free

On-Call Requirements

  • Overnight call Monday–Friday, once per week
  • Weekend call every fifth weekend
  • Must be available for nights and weekends when on call
  • Floating between units may be required
  • 48-hour workweeks are not approved

Certifications Required / Preferred

  • BLS – Required
  • ACLS – Preferred
  • ASATT – Preferred
  • Cer.A.T. – Preferred

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills

Anesthesia Equipment & Setup

  • Anesthesia machine setup, checkout, and troubleshooting
  • Breathing circuits, endotracheal tubes, laryngoscope blades, and GlideScope
  • IV pumps, standard monitors, transport monitors, and rapid infusers
  • Cell saver equipment and airway management supplies
  • IV and pressure line setup, including arterial and central venous access equipment

Operating Room Support

  • Prepare operating rooms for the first case and perform room turnover
  • Assist anesthesia providers during routine procedures and critical situations
  • Support patient positioning and transport to the operating room
  • Assist with emergency intubations, airway management, and procedure preparation
  • Follow aseptic technique, sterilization, disinfection, and infection-control protocols

Clinical & Safety Skills

  • Intubation equipment and airway supplies
  • IV insertion and blood draws via arterial lines or venous sticks
  • Support for pain blocks and general, MAC, and regional anesthesia
  • Radiation safety, specimen handling, labeling, and procedure documentation
  • Universal Protocol and surgical time-out procedures
  • Crash cart and equipment documentation
  • Operating room electrical, fire, and patient safety procedures

Clinical Settings & Surgical Specialties
Experience supporting the following areas may be required:

  • General surgery, bariatrics, and endoscopy/laparoscopy
  • ENT, gynecology, urology, and vascular surgery
  • Neurology, neurosurgery/spine, and orthopedic surgery
  • Orthopedic/spine and total joint procedures
  • Plastic surgery, podiatry, robotics, and thoracic surgery
  • Ambulatory OR, trauma, and pediatrics (preferred)
  • Ophthalmology (preferred)

Additional Requirements

  • Must be comfortable assisting anesthesia providers in critical situations.
  • Must be able to meet the weekly overnight call and every-fifth-weekend call requirements.
  • Must have relevant operating room and anesthesia equipment experience.
