Registered Nurse – CVICU
Location: Madison, WI
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: November 9, 2026
Shift: Night Shift – 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week

Job Responsibilities

• Provide specialized critical care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplants, and complex cardiac conditions.
• Manage patients following CABG, valve repair or replacement, aneurysm repair, aortic dissection repair, LVAD placement, and thoracic surgery.
• Care for patients experiencing STEMI, NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, heart failure, and cardiac dysrhythmias.
• Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, pulmonary artery catheters, epicardial pacing wires, and other advanced hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
• Administer and titrate cardiac, vasoactive, sedation, and other critical-care infusions.
• Provide ventilator management, respiratory support, chest tube care, and interpretation of arterial blood gases.
• Manage patients requiring CRRT/CVVH, IABP, Impella, LVAD, and ECMO support.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient- and family-centered care.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience within the past 3 years.
• Previous CVICU experience required.
• Experience with the NxStage CVVH/CRRT machine is mandatory.
• Epic charting experience required; experience within the past 12 months is preferred.
• Travel nursing experience required.
• Trauma Level I experience required.
• Experience in a cardiothoracic surgery or acuity-adaptable unit preferred.
• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license.
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Must pass the facility's telemetry test before being cleared to start.
