Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in an 8-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
• Monitor and assess patients with complex medical conditions and recognize changes in clinical status.
• Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation and other advanced respiratory support.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret EKG strips, and identify abnormal rhythms.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Perform bedside assessments and provide accurate shift handoffs.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using Cerner EMR.
• Assist with break relief and collaborate with the charge nurse as needed.
• Float to sister facilities within the Sacramento area and to the Med-Surg unit at Woodland as required.
• Maintain patient safety, infection prevention, and critical-care standards.
• Participate in rotating holiday coverage and scheduled weekend shifts.
