Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist

Facility: DeTar Navarro Location: Victoria, Texas Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist  Start Date: ASAP Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week 

1. Shift and Schedule

• Weekday nights: 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
• Weekend nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
• Rotation: 7 days on, 7 days off.
• Call: None.
• Floating: Required.
• Block scheduling: Not allowed.
• 48-hour schedules: Not allowed.
• Holidays: Rotated.

2. Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience required.
• 5 years of experience preferred.
• Extensive Blood Bank experience is mandatory.
• Advanced Chemistry experience required.
• Advanced Hematology experience required.

3. Required Certification

• ASCP certification or an accepted equivalent is required.
• MLT candidates must not be submitted.

Confirm the accepted certification and credential level with the account manager.

4. Required Skills

• Extensive hands-on Blood Bank experience.
• Advanced clinical Chemistry testing.
• Advanced Hematology testing.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts.
• Knowledge of laboratory quality-control and safety procedures.

5. EMR / Laboratory Systems

• McKesson
• Medhost
• Cerner, with implementation listed as starting in October.

Confirm which system is currently in use and whether previous experience is required.

6. Floating Locations

The candidate may need to work at either of these locations:

• Primary facility: DeTar Navarro, 506 E. San Antonio St., Victoria, TX 77901.
• Additional facility: DeTar North, 101 Medical Dr., Victoria, TX 77904.

Floating between facilities is required.

7. Dress Code

- Any scrub color is accepted except teal.
